Frequently Asked Questions

Can I still use a browser (i.e Internet Explorer) to access my DVR, NVR or IP Camera?
Yes, you can still use Internet Explorer as isn't being deleted entirely from Windows, just updates will no longer be supported so it is likely to still work for a while afterwards.

The second option is to use Microsoft Edge with IE mode. Microsoft created its IE mode for Edge a couple of years ago, and it has allowed businesses to adopt the new Chromium-based browser for older legacy websites. IE mode supports older ActiveX controls. Microsoft is promising to support this IE mode in Edge until through at least 2029.

To turn on Internet Explorer mode, use the following steps.

1. In the address bar for Microsoft Edge, type edge://settings/defaultbrowser and then click Enter

2. Slide the Allow sites to be reloaded in Internet Explorer toggle to ON.

3. Restart Microsoft Edge.

Internet Explorer mode is now enabled. To view a website using Internet Explorer mode in Microsoft Edge, use the following steps.

1. Navigate to the website you want to view in Internet Explorer mode.

2. Click the three dots in the upper right corner of the browser window.

3. Select More Tools > Reload in Internet Explorer Mode.

Note. To return to browsing without Internet Explorer mode, you can click Leave on the information bar at the top of the screen, or close your current tab and open a new tab in Microsoft Edge.

The other option for viewing on a Windows PC is with the ZipVision or AlienVision Client software (Depending on your recorder) which is normally supplied.
