Can extra message and sound files be downloaded for the VoiceOFF loud speaker?
To make setting up your Voice OFF really effortless, we've already pre-recorded over 2000 messages and sounds for you to try. These include categories such as CCTV in operation, beware of the dog, no admittance, fire evacuation to name but a few. Over 2000 sound files are available through our partner site www.VoiceOFF.com
Can I add an extra speaker to the VoiceOff unit?

Yes, The VOX120 is a slave speaker for the VoiceOff Unit and you can fit up to 4 of these. These are wired via the AUX connection.

Can I adjust the unit’s volume control?

The VoiceOff has a volume control on its PCB that can be set on installation to match your site requirements. It has 9 levels (0-8) that can also be adjusted remotely using the RS485 and Ethernet controls.

Can I record my own files for the VoiceOff unit?

It's quite easy to record your own audio for the VoiceOff unit. You just need an audio recording device and a computer. The VoiceOff only plays audio files that are stored in the industry standard MP3 format.

Can I schedule messages or sounds to play on a VoiceOFF loudspeaker unit?
Yes with the handy VoiceOFF Scheduler software you can schedule messages to play at certain times of the day or have a message repeating at specified intervals. It's a great way of adding automation to your VoiceOFF in addition to the alarm inputs and particularly valuable if you have a number of VoiceOFF units on-site that you wish to control.
Can I send out repeated or timed messages with VoiceOFF Scheduler software?

Yes the VoiceOFF Scheduler software is the really easy way to get the most of your unit if you are planning to use more than 6 messages. It provides you with an uncomplicated interface to activate any of the 9999 message and sound files stored on your connected PC.

It's as simple as pressing a button! But it offers so much more too. Within seconds you can set up a schedule to send out a message of your choice when you like and as often as you like.

It's great for the following...

1. Easy management of multiple VoiceOFF devices

You can add any number of VoiceOFF devices to the software calling them a "friendly" name. You can even bookmark favourites making them faster to access.

2. Manually triggering a message when the need arises

Great for when a situation arises and you need to trigger a message fast. Eg, a homeowner suspects a prowler they can play the sound of a police siren approaching OR a CCTV operator seeing an act of vandalism is about to occur can trigger a message to scare off the vandals such as...

Warning! This area is under video surveillance 24 hours a day and trespassers will be prosecuted.

Once your favourite VoiceOFF devices and their favourite messages are set up it is fast to go to your preferred VoiceOFF device and select your chosen message, simply click on it to start playing the message in full.

3. Scheduling a variety of messages on different days and at different times

A built in scheduler function lets you program how many times to play the message how often to repeat it and the days and times during which to play it. Ideal for customer service messages in a retail store.

This store will be closing in 15 minutes, please complete your purchases & make your way to the cashiers desk.

Eg, scheduled to play once at 5.15pm Monday to Saturday.

OR Health & Safety messages repeated throughout the day in a workplace.

Please be aware, fork lift trucks may be operating in this area.

Eg, scheduled to play between 8am-7pm every hour Monday to Saturday.

Can I trigger the VoiceOFF over a LAN or the Internet?

You can. The latest VoiceOFF (Model VOX400 launched 2022) has an Ethernet connection so you can setup a network device of your choice to trigger a specific message. This might be via a standalone network relay (REL019) or from 3rd party devices such as a fire or alarm panel.

This network connectivity also allows you to use the VOXPlayer Pro software (pg.15) to schedule and repeat messages at your will and even remotely adjust the unit's volume. The Lite version is a free download to all VoiceOFF customers.

Can I use music files on the VoiceOff unit?

Yes, you can use any sound file provided that it is in the MP3 format and you have saved it using the correct file naming convention. Don't forget any file will play until the end before a new file can be played.

Can I use the VoiceOFF as a loudspeaker?

Yes, a secondary feature of the VoiceOFF is its useful audio amplifier, it has a phono socket accepting line-level input allowing you to deliver content from a variety of other devices. This can be used as an internal or external loudspeaker, to allow the operator to convey clear messages to visitors or even crowds within proximity to the VoiceOFF speaker. Your message will play out of the main VoiceOff unit (VOX400) as well as any slave extension speakers (VOX120) connected to it.

How do I record my own messages for VoiceOFF loud speaker?
VoiceOFF uses the MP3 file format so recording your own message and sound files is straightforward.

Once you've decided what to say and chosen who will say your message all you need is a microphone, a PC or laptop and a micro SD card. Find out exactly how to do this at the VoiceOFF website here.
How many sound/message files can VoiceOFF loud speaker play?

Voice OFF can use a micro SD card up to 32GB so you can store a great number of messages on it. 6 of these can be named to match up and be triggered by the 6 alarm inputs on the VoiceOFF PCB. You can change these as often as you like, this involves going to the VoiceOFF unit itself to remove the card and update it or replace it with a new card you have written.

If VoiceOFF is part of a larger installation you might require more than 6 messages, in which case you can connect it up to a PC and trigger a massive 9999 messages! This is especially easy when you use the VoiceOFF Scheduler software to set up your preferred routines.

Is VoiceOFF loud speaker supplied with a sample message?

Yes not 1 but 6! To get you up and running, we include some free sample messages already on the free micro SD card so your VoiceOFF works straight out of the box.

What can be used to trigger the VoiceOff unit?

VoiceOFF is a powerful message and voice annunciator, more simply thought of as,

"an MP3 file player with its own loudspeaker system, activated by programmable alarm inputs, or via software over RS485 or LAN connection."

The VoiceOff is triggered by simply connecting any of its 6 alarm input terminals to ground or zero volts. It can also be triggered using its RS485 and Ethernet connections from other devices such as cameras or access control gear.

If you've not already purchased a VoiceOFF, you can find out more and purchase the VoiceOFF hardware through our partner site www.VoiceOFF.com.

What do I need to install the VoiceOFF?

The Voice OFF is really easy and fast to install requiring no special tools other than what is in your toolbox already. It has 4 fixing lugs, so simply use appropriate screws and wall plugs depending on the surface you are fitting the VoiceOFF to.

You will need a drill, wall plugs, screws and a screwdriver set. To cable and power the unit you will also need a power supply unit, your MP3 sound files stored on the micro SD card supplied as well as cable such as alarm or CAT5 for the alarm input triggers.

What do I need to power the VoiceOff unit?

The unit requires a regulated 12V DC power supply rated at 200mA. This can be from a power supply or battery.

What happens when more than one alarm is triggered in quick succession?

A common question people ask about the VoiceOff is "What happens if a message is playing and another alarm or perhaps the same alarm input is re-triggered?" The answer is the original message plays out until it reaches the end of that message. A trigger from the RS485 or Ethernet connections will override this.

Where should I site the VoiceOff for the best results?

The Voice OFF is fully weatherproof and can be installed in or outdoors to suit your exact requirements. The VOX400 model is usually best located at head height to attract people's attention when walking past but could easily be installed onto the ceiling or above a door.
