A Digital Video Recorder or DVR represents the heart of a CCTV system.
It houses the hard drive where the camera footage is recorded, allows user control over live CCTV images and recordings and even allows the camera images to be viewed on a monitor or remotely via a mobile phone app or a desktop client software.
DVRs accept CCTV cameras fed via CO-AX cable as opposed to an NVR (Network Video Recorder) that works over a network where IP cameras can be connected directly to the recorder or piggyback over a network connection to reach it.
DVRs are good for upgrades where existing cable runs of RG59 are already in place or you do not wish to go down the IP route. The latest Zip DVR range now features Alexa & Google integration, Cloud Storage and a host of other features, why not check it out below?
