The 360° view means it has no blind spots when mounted centrally to a location.
When mounted on the ceiling of a shop for example the camera can see directly below it and all around every side for a full 360° view. Nowhere for a shop lifter to steal items in the camera's blind spot because it doesn't have any.
The special firmware in the ZipNVR "de-warps" the image so that the user can view the areas like there are multiple individual CCTV cameras installed. Although the camera doesn't move, or have any moving parts, you can look around its angle of view just like you were controlling a standard mechanical PTZ. Of course you have the benefit it has no moving parts to wear out and you only have to install one small discreet camera rather than multiple cameras.
If you fit a Micro SD card to the Zip 360° camera you can use it to record footage without an NVR, this can be a useful back-up recording method or used in its entirety for covert jobs.
You would play this footage back and de-warp it using the easy to use ZIP client supplied with the camera.
The built in microphone picks up decent quality speech, which is great for evidential purposes of "who said what" when pure video alone isn't good enough. The camera has a tiny built in speaker which can only deliver a low level audio output but you can use it to deliver a message to a staff member, shop lifter or simply tell the kids to get to sleep and switch the tablet off!
There are two options for the Zip 360° camera: the 5MP pro and the 4K ultra pro model. Please bear in mind that because you are using the camera to cover more of an area, where previously you would use several cameras to cover the same view, every megapixel counts. Effectively the more one camera is used to cover more area its megapixel resolution is diluted over the whole area. So the 4K Ultra Pro may be a good choice in mission critical installs, or even use 2 spaced out Pros (5MP) to cover a room for closer to subject definition.
Selecting desktop, inverts the image such that if it were placed in the middle of a table everyone around the table would be the right way up and with the built in microphone this would allow meetings to be recorded with the camera able to see all of those sitting around it. This could be on the Check Out desk of a hotel and recording everything, or at the counter of a shop recording the purchase of an item just like you were sat there.
Traditionally you would mount a 360° camera in the middle of a ceiling to get an all-round view of the room but you can also mount it on a wall and get 180° surveillance down both sides of a wall.
The clever software free with the Zip 360° camera allows you multiple ways to view and manipulate the superb footage it produces.
