The HotHEAD^TM "Selfie" is a low cost standalone solution for short range (under 1m) temperature scanning of visitors and staff alike.

The camera with built-in 7" monitor provides a "self check" solution for visitors to monitor their temperature on entry to your premises. Ideal for appointment type business such as hairdressers, dentists or surgeries, the "Selfie" provides a non-confrontational (and safe noncontact) way to monitor visitor temperatures.

Constant screening of staff and visitor temperatures helps to minimise the risk of your staff getting Covid-19 by constantly looking out for abnormally high temperatures of anyone entering your premises. If you detect a high temperature, immediate action can help save lives and keep your business operational.

With a mask detection feature, the camera can be used to check visitors and monitor whether they are wearing one or not. You can switch this feature on or off according to your organisation's policy or current (and future!) Government regulations.

To set up the HotHEAD^TM "Selfie" you mount it on a wall or tripod and plug in the power supply to a socket. Once powered up the HotHEAD^TM "Selfie" will automatically read the temperature of any person who stands directly in front of it. It can then give the temperature on screen and indicate if they have a high temperature or not. If the HotHEAD^TM "Selfie" detects a high temperature it will then give an audible message indicating that a "High temperature is detected" so the appropriate action can be taken.

Use the HotHEAD^TM "Selfie" "out of the box" or connect it to a network and unleash even more features. The HotHEAD^TM "Selfie" has even more features if you connect it to a local computer network or a laptop. You can alter the temperature threshold for alarming, alter the messages it gives, you can even set up face detection and recognition that can be used to integrate to other systems like access control. It could log your individual staff temperatures for example everyday so you can track changes.

A HotHead Temperature Detection camera can help protect you, your staff, your customers and your business from the very real threat of a Corona Virus. It's a CCTV camera that measures human temperatures (and can detect abnormally high readings) one of the very few early but reliable indicators of the Covid-19 strain.

Using a CCTV camera with "Infrared Thermal Detection" it is possible to measure the body temperature of a person giving a possible early warning someone has a high temperature and may be a Covid-19 carrier.

Rapid identification of a high temperature is a great help to screening and protecting staff & visitors of any business, it's contact-less, easy and fast.

CCTV Cameras equipped with "Infrared Thermal Detection" are actually a "2 in 1" device, they have a standard IP CCTV camera and an additional infrared detection module that can read the thermal temperature of a human by the Infrared it gives off.

Infra Thermal detection cameras that help with the detection of an unusually high temperature are known as "ITDCs" and can be roughly split into two options for the user.

1- Long Range Temperature Cameras (more than 1m)

These cameras can simultaneously read multiple people at a distance and therefore the subject's temperature can be read without any participation in the process. Great for capturing temperatures of people in a busy environment where you can position cameras to capture people's temperature by strategic placing of the camera(s).

Long range temperature readers are a good choice for busy shops and buildings where people are coming and going without any appointments or other visitor control. These cameras can be made to inform the visitor or staff of high temperature via audible warnings or software supplied with the cameras. The long distance temperature reading of these cameras makes them more expensive to buy than the short range readers.

Within the camera you can set it also to alert if someone is not wearing a mask. This is useful if you have a policy that masks should be warn at all times.

2- Short range temperature Cameras (less than 1m)

These cameras need the subject to be closer and pretty much standing in front of the camera. Because the infra detection module can't read at a long distance, these cameras tend to be much lower cost than the long distance readers.

The short range readers often are manufactured with a small attached CCTV monitor so that the subject can stand in front of the camera and see what their own reading is. Is it high or low and do they have a temperature or not? This instant feedback to customers and staff is great for non confrontational management after detection of a high temperature.

The short range readers tend to be a good choice for businesses that have people book appointments or have low volume "walk in and wait customers". The customer can be asked to check their temperature by standing in front of the camera. It's easy, safe and gives fast results.

Within the camera you can set it also to alert if someone is not wearing a mask. This is useful if you have a policy that masks should be warn at all times.
With the short range the cameras get a good full facial shot so some have built in facial recognition. This allows the cameras to be used to do other functions like open doors. Note* - this is only possible by integration into other systems.

How accurate is the temperature reading from the HotHEAD Temperature Detection camera?

HotHEAD(TM) cameras are accurate within 0.5 degrees so you can safely set it to your desired trigger temperature (38? by default) and wait for a high temperature notification.

Would a HotHEAD camera recognise the difference between a human and an object such as hot drink?

Yes a HotHEAD camera is really 3 cameras in 1 - a CCTV camera, a face mask detection camera and a thermal detection camera. It works by analysing a pre-configured area (setup by you) such as a doorway and then looks for a face with eyes. Once detected it takes the temperature reading of the subject in question.

In other words it would see the heat of a cup of coffee but you would only be alerted if there was a person holding with a temperature above the threshold level. It's really smart and you can adjust the trigger temperature yourself but it is 38? by default.

Would you use the HotHEAD camera be used as a normal CCTV camera?

It really depends which style of camera you go for.

The Long Range Crowd model looks and records like a standard CCTV camera but offers so much more and because it has a higher price tag than a standard camera we would recommend you use the smart AI electronics in the camera for its precise purpose - to detect a temperature in human beings and create a log of the temperature readings.


The Short Range Selfie model has more of an access control feel and as it includes a face recognition module it is better put to use in this way.
