The ACC518 is a Fail Secure strike lock making it ideal for security doors and restricting access to secure areas. Fail secure strike locks work the opposite way to most electronic locks as they are designed to lock the door when their power is cut.

By working in this way they are not effected if the building's power is switched off over night or if there is a power failure. In both instances they would stay locked preventing unauthorised personnel gaining access to secure areas.

Fail secure strike locks can be wired in two ways depending on what you want to acheive.

In the first method they are wired so that power is temporary applied to the lock when triggered. This could be a simple push button, key fob or key pad to provide easy access for staff as and when required.

The second method would be to power the lock constantly so that the door can be used as a regular door. Wiring the lock in this way would only secure the door if the power is manual switched off to the lock, if it's outside operating hours and the building's power is turned off or if there is a power cut.

The slimline mortice mount design has been developed so that it can replace the locking plate in most door frames so you can limit access to almost any door.

Our Handy Rascal relays are ideal for use with our fail secure strike locks as they add extra flexibility and functionality. The HRM100 1ch opto isolating relay would apply power to the lock for as long as the exit button is pressed. To have the door stay open for a short while a HRM200 delay on-off relay could be used to apply power to the lock for up to 20 seconds. For a more advanced solution you might consider using the HRM250 10 function relay. As well as being able to set how long the lock's power is applied for you can also specify a time delay between pressing the exit button and the power being applied. This allows for installations where the exit button isn't situated next to the door.

We also offer Fail Safe strike locks (ACC520) which open when power is cut making them ideal for emergency exit doors.
